Racetrack Memory which is the ultradense memory chip created using nanowires is going to replace the conventional hard drive.

IBM unleashed the world’s first computer hard disk drive in 1956 named as RAMAC (Random Access Method of Accounting and Control). The drive holds 5MB of data at $10,000 a megabyte. The disk was as big as two refrigerators and uses 50 platters of size 24-inch each. It weighed more than a ton.
